The icons

The Atomium consists of nine spheres and was constructed for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair. You can walk through the spheres, visit exhibitions and end your day with a Belgian dish in the restaurant located in the upper sphere, which provides a panoramic view of the city. Near the famous Grand Place boasting the town hall and many guildhalls, you will find Stoofstraat, where ‘Manneken Pis’ (Little Man Pee) stands, the little arch boy you must have seen. If you’re lucky, you will see him wearing a new outfit.

Grand Place

With its majestic 15th-century town hall, which is a fine example of architecture, the Grand Place is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, it has so many other sights to offer. The square is flanked by guildhalls, the most famous ones being La Maison des Brasseurs, the vaulted cellars of which are home to the brewery museum, and La Maison du Roi where you can find the Museum of the City of Brussels. The Grand Place is considered one of the most beautiful squares in the world, and rightly so. You are surrounded by history in the middle of a modern metropolis.

Museums

With about 100 museums, culture lovers can easily fill their days in Brussels. Discover some of Brussels’ Art Nouveau heritage in the Horta Museum, feast your eyes on the vast collection of Magritte, housed in the Magritte Museum, or visit an exhibition in BOZAR, the Centre for Fine Arts. However, sometimes you do more in a museum than just watch: in the Museum of Natural Sciences you stand face to face with dinosaurs, in the Musical Instruments Museum (MIM) you can enjoy divine sounds, and Choco-Story Brussels, the Chocolate Museum, is a treat for people with a sweet tooth.

Europe

In the Parlamentarium, visitors of all ages can explore the European Parliament in an interactive manner with a personal multimedia guide.
