Tips for your stay in Scandinavian Mountains
Flights to Scandinavian Mountains Airport: don’t miss out!
Get your skis readyIn winter, TUI fly flies every Saturday from Brussels to Scandinavian Mountains Airport. The flight takes just over two hours, and from Scandinavian Mountains Airport you can quickly reach the ski resort of your choice in Sweden or Norway. Almost all accommodations are located close to the slopes. Ski-in / ski-out, what more can you want? No need for queuing at the lifts. You will reach the top of the wide pistes in no time, and off you go!
Skiing from dawn to dusk
Although the ski areas are not as large as those in the Alps, they still offer plenty of variety in breathtaking, wooded fairytale landscapes. Novice skiers feel right at ease on the many wide pistes. But there are challenging slopes for experienced skiers as well, for instance Väggen – the Wall – in Sälen, with a 45° incline. SkiStar Snowpark Sälen was designed by Jesper Tjäder, the Swedish freestyle skier who won the bronze medal in slopestyle skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Stöten Adventure features nine adventure arenas, including the Stöten Cross funslope for stunting, the Speed Freak race track and the parallel slalom course where you can compete against each other. All ski resorts allow for skiing at night: the pistes are illuminated several nights a week so you can ski in an enchanting landscape. At Trysil, you can even hit the pristine slopes at sunrise, before the lifts open.Ideal for families
Families feel right at home in the very child-friendly ski resort of Lindvallen, which is part of the Sälen ski area. Almost all ski runs are on the same side of the mountain here, so you can keep a close eye on the kids. Follow one of the many themed pistes and discover Valletorget in the woods, where you can meet snowman Valle, Sälen’s mascot. There is plenty to discover and experience in the cottages around the square, and your children can enjoy shows and events both during the day and in the evening. And you should certainly visit the troll forest (Trollskogen) in Hundfjället to listen to the stories. In Lindvallen, the spectacular SkiStar Magic Mountain evening light show transforms the ski slope on Valle Mountain into a magically beautiful place. Stöten is a paradise for children as well. They will love Vargy’s Äventyrsbana, an adventure trail through the woods offering a combination of skiing, a treasure hunt and stories about Vargy the wolf. At the end of the trail you will find a barbecue area.Winter fun all around
You can explore the stunning Scandinavian landscape beyond the ski slopes as well. Go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on the trails that wind through the woods. Trysil features no less than 100 km of cross-country ski trails around the Trysilfjellet mountain. Or do you prefer a snowshoe hike by moonlight? If you like things a little faster, a snowmobile excursion will be right up your alley. Another unforgettable experience is a husky safari. Sit back and relax or drive the sled yourself. Keep the lines tight on the enthusiastic huskies and discover a winter wonderland of snow-covered forests, plains, mountains and frozen lakes. You can also visit the huskies at the Fjälläventyr Hundparken dog park in Sälen. In Trysil, you can hear the bells of horse-drawn sleighs jingling. After your ride, you can enjoy some moose stew in a cosy lavvu, a traditional Sami tent.More than just snow
Did you know that Lindvallen in Sälen is the only place in the world where you visit a McDonalds on skis? The McSki is right next to the slope; snuggle up inside or order outside at the Ski-Thru with your skis still on your feet. After the winter fun, it's time for Experium in Sälen, an experience centre with a subtropical water paradise featuring indoor and outdoor pools, slides and waves you can surf on. And then there’s the spacious spa. Adults can play a game of bowling or video games while the children romp around in the Playland play area. The place to be in Stöten is the Vattufjäll amusement centre. Dive into the pool or relax in the hot tub. And pamper yourself at Stöten Spa. In Trysil the Radisson Blu hotel is the place to be for water fun with Surfer's Bay, a water park with swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, water streams and a climbing wall.[]
